It was a pretty sunset last night, so I decided to drive down and take some shots. That's Mount Edgecumbe, our dormant volcano, in the background.
Plane Crash

This morning in Sitka, Alaska, a small plane carrying an estimated four people crashed catastrophically into a home. Local firefighters and emergency responders were quick to the scene as they hurried to extinguish the flames that engulfed the wreckage.

I was sitting against the fence along the first base line when this ball came straight at me. I clicked the shutter, looked up, and dodged. Just barely missed me, and I was sure to pay closer attention the rest of the game.
If you haven't heard the tragic news yet; Minor League coach Mike Coolbaugh (previous Major League player for the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers over two seasons) died Sunday after being struck in the head by a line drive as he stood in the first base coach's box during a game in Arkansas. Very sad news, and really makes you pay more attention out on the field when shooting pictures.

I actually just finished the book; while I am sad that the series is finished, I was satisfied with how it ended. I won't give anything away, but I got a little worried about how Ms. Rowling was gonna pull through in the end there... things got a little wacky for a bit.
